Purple Velvet Plant | Gynura aurantiaca Care:
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant color. Too little light leads to leggy growth, while direct sun can scorch the leaves.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing season, but not waterlogged. Allow the top 2-3cm of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot.
Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity; however, avoid misting the leaves directly, as the hair can trap moisture and cause leaf rot.
Temperature: Prefers warm, stable temperatures between 18-26ºC. Keep away from cold drafts.
Soil & Nutrition: Use a well-draining,, lightweight, porous potting mix. Feed every 2–4 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser.
Pruning & Maintenance: Pinch back stems regularly to promote a bushier, fuller shape and prevent it from becoming too leggy.
Toxicity: While some sources say it is safe, it is often listed as having potential issues if ingested by pets; handling with care is recommended.
