Purple Trumpet Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia sp.)
Purple Trumpet Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia sp.) Care:
Light: Thrives in full, direct sunlight (at least 6–8 hours) to maintain its deep red colour.
Water: Keep consistently moist to wet. Stand the pot in a saucer with 1-2cm of rainwater, distilled water, or reverse osmosis water. Do not use tap water.
Soil: Use a nutrient-poor, acidic mixture, such as special carnivorous compost (sphagnum peat moss mixed with perlite or silica sand).
Temperature: Thrives in warm summers (up to 32º ) but needs a cold, dormant period (winter) where temperatures drop to roughly 5-10ºC
Feeding: No fertiliser needed. They catch their own flies and insects. Overfeeding can damage them.
Potting: Repot in spring using a mix with high aeration, like perlite
