Monstera deliciosa variegata

Height: 18cm

Pot Size: 6cm

Monstera deliciosa variegated Care:

1. Light and Placement

  • Optimal Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Place it near a bright, east-facing or north-facing window, or use an artificial grow light if your space is dim.

  • What to Avoid: Keep it out of harsh, direct sun. The variegated, creamy-white patches lack chlorophyll and will scorch and turn crisp very easily.

2. Watering Your

  • When to Water: Water when the top 5 cm to 8 cm (2 to 3 inches) of soil feel completely dry to the touch. Overwatering is the most common mistake and frequently leads to root rot.

  • Technique: Soak the soil thoroughly so water runs out the bottom of the pot, then let it drain completely before returning it to its cachepot. Lessen watering frequency during the winter months.

3. Soil and Potting

  • Soil Mix: Use a chunky, free-draining "aroid mix". You can buy or make a blend using standard potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark (or coco coir) to ensure plenty of airflow to the roots.

  • Pots: Always choose a container with bottom drainage holes. Only size up the pot by 2.5 cm to 5 cm (1 to 2 inches) when repotting.

4. Humidity and Temperature

  • Ideal Climate: Keep the plant in a warm, stable room between 18°C and 27°C (65°F to 80°F). Keep it away from cold draughts, radiators, or air conditioning vents.

  • Humidity: The Thai Constellation appreciates higher humidity (ideally between 60% and 80%). If your home's air is dry, use an indoor humidifier or place the plant on a pebble tray with water.

5. Feeding and Upkeep

  • Fertiliser: Feed your plant once a month during the spring and summer using a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser diluted to half strength. Suspend or severely reduce feeding in the autumn and winter.

  • Support: As it matures, it will want to climb. Add a moss pole or a coir totem to encourage bigger leaves with dramatic splits (fenestrations).

  • Maintenance: Wipe the large leaves with a damp cloth or a gentle, plant-safe oil spray monthly to remove dust and deter pests.
