Alocasia portodora Care:
Light: Provide bright, filtered or indirect sunlight. Avoid harsh, direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the massive, scalloped leaves.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water thoroughly when the top 2.5 to 5 cm (1 to 2 inches) of soil feels dry to the touch. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to avoid root rot. During the winter dormancy period, ease up on watering as growth slows down.
Humidity: As a sub-tropical plant, it loves high humidity (aim for 50-60%). Place it near a humidifier, in a well-lit bathroom, or group it with other houseplants. You can also use a pebble tray to add moisture to the air.
Soil & Fertiliser: Use a loose, well-draining potting mix—such as a peat-free houseplant compost with added perlite and bark. Feed with a balanced, diluted liquid houseplant fertiliser once a month during the spring and summer growing season. Do not fertilise in the winter.
Troubleshooting: Watch for common houseplant pests like spider mites or mealybugs. Yellowing or drooping leaves are often signs of overwatering
